The Looking Tax

This installation is an exploration and critique of hyperadvertisement.  It consists of 20 colorful and graphic risograph prints that act as caricatures of advertisements, each printed in large numbers, surrounding and even obscuring the image of a more traditionally composed piece. My intention is to draw attention to advertisements, an invisible yet omnipresent aspect of modern life which becomes more imposing by the day, facilitating the widespread enjoyment of accessible art while also, in its nature, interfering with the experience of enjoying that art.
